A life-changing charity empowering older people through information, support and community
Mums and Carers is a registered charity dedicated to transforming the lives of older people, single mums, carers, and those facing homelessness. We exist because information is powerful — and access to it can change lives.
Originally founded as Skills and Care Greenwich, our early work supported the arrival of large numbers of older people of Nepali Gurkha heritage in 2013. We helped them overcome language barriers, understand local services, and feel included rather than isolated. Our commitment to empowerment earned the charity The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service, the highest honour for voluntary organisations.
Today, under the name Mums and Carers, we continue to build on that foundation — reaching older adults across Greenwich, Bexley, Lewisham, Southwark, Petts Wood, Sevenoaks, Longfield and surrounding areas.

Provide life-changing information & guidance
We support older people to access services, understand benefits, improve digital skills, navigate systems and remain independent.
Free holistic wellbeing & art activities
Sessions for seniors, carers and young people that strengthen wellbeing, confidence and community connection.
Ageing at Home Support – Stay Nourished Campaign
Helping older people remain safely in their own homes with guidance, advocacy, nutrition awareness and practical support.
Partnership Working
Through collaboration with Home Instead and other partners, we receive valuable training and resources to make care and independence possible with dignity.
Our New Service: Cleaning Support for Home, Community & Commercial Spaces
We now proudly offer all types of cleaning services, ensuring our service users can live comfortably, safely, and with dignity at home. This service is also available to community spaces and commercial environments.
Our Cleaning Services Include:
- Home cleaning for older individuals and families
- Supportive cleaning for vulnerable or isolated residents
- Deep cleaning and maintenance
- Community hall and shared space cleaning
- Commercial cleaning on request
- Bespoke cleaning packages tailored to need
This service not only supports wellbeing and independent living but also helps sustain our charitable work — so every clean makes a difference.
